Going that extra mile

This week I had occasion to have a new tyre fitted, nothing remarkable about that (apart from the price!) you may think however that small incident reminded me about how good it feels when people demonstrate to you that they are prepared to go that bit further to make you feel special.

A few days previously I called into the garage to discuss my tyre, I knew I needed one new one and was really praying that the mechanic didn't make that sort of worrying noise, shake his head and say "this isn't looking good, you could do with another couple of tyres on here".

Getting back in touch with what you love doing the most

I was recently lucky enough to spend a weekend in the Lake District, it was a last minute decision to go and even though it was a bit hectic trying to get everything ready at the last minute, it was well worth it in the end.

The weather was good and being February there were not too many tourists around, always a bonus in an area that gets 15 million visitors a year!.

It was a perfect opportunity to recharge our batteries and switch off from our day to day jobs and demands. Getting out and about in the UK is something I love doing and is certainly on my top 5 list of things to do, years ago I completed a values exercise and at the time I wondered why I hadn't had a mini break for a long time, I soon rectified that !

Spring is on its way

Today found me out and about doing general marketing in Worksop, it was an absolutely lovely day, the sun was shining pretty much the entire time I was walking around. It felt really good to feel the warmth of the sun, I saw a couple of people sitting outside a café having coffee and clearly enjoying the almost spring like feel of the weather. It reminded me once again that Spring is my favourite season.
It is the season of new growth, new hope and new starts. Every year, plants , trees and flowers begin to push through to start their new cycle of growth, it made me think, what are you going to do this Spring to grow?

Talk to Inner Wheel Hucknall

17 February 2014 - An absolute pleasure to be invited to talk to the Inner Wheel at Hucknall, thank you so much for inviting me along, it was lovely to meet you all , the meal was really nice and the company delightful. Everyone seemed to enjoy the talk and there were some very interesting questions afterwards. A big thank you to Carolyn for my plant and of course the wine !

Trent Valley Tangent Club Talk

10 February 2014 - What an absolute pleasure to be invited to give a talk to the lovely ladies at Trent Valley Tangent, the evening was held at the home of one of their lady members and what a beautiful home she has. There were about 25 members in the audience and they all made me feel really welcome. Thank you for your kind comments regarding how much you enjoyed the talk and I was so pleased to receive so many questions. Also a really big thank you for the cheque for a charity of my choice. I never charge for promotional talks and this was the first time that a club has given me a donation to give to charity in lieu of my time.

First talk of 2014 !

23 January 2014 -  I have lots of promotional activity planned for 2014 and so I was particularly pleased to meet the Rotarians at Swadlincote, a lovely evening held in an unusual location right next to a fishing lake, what a pity it wasn't summer time to enjoy what I am sure is a lovely view. Many thanks to Kim Coe for inviting me along to speak to you all and thank you for your lovely comments after the talk.

My last talk of 2013!

10 December 2013 - Everybody is getting ready for Christmas and I am no exception, it has been an extremely busy year for promotional talks, my last talk of the year was to the Rotarians of Trent Bridge who meet in Ruddington. I think we were all a bit giddy about the forthcoming Christmas break, it was a lovely atmosphere with lots of interest shown in the number of questions asked. Thank you Mr President for being a good sport!.

Talk to Alfreton Rotary Club

18 November 2013 - An unexpected setting for my talk to the Alfreton Rotarians, the Higham Farm Hotel has some stunning views from the car park even on a wet, dreary Monday afternoon !. Thankfully the company was anything but wet and dreary, I had a lovely meal and gave a talk which everybody enjoyed, once again so nice to meet new people. Thank you Richard for the invite.

Sherwood Forest Rotary Club

30 October 2013 - Great to be invited along to the Sherwood Forest branch of the Rotary Club, wives were once again invited along for the evening so we had a really good turn out in terms of numbers, a great crowd who joined in at all the relevant bits!. Thank you so much to Sue Bevan for inviting me along, I hope to be back soon !

Lindum Rotary Club Talk

24 October 2013 - My second visit to Lincoln with the Rotarians, this time to the Lindum Rotary Club. We met at the White Hart Hotel, right next to the cathedral. I really like Lincoln and so it was an absolute pleasure to give a talk there, wives were invited to come along too, the talk went really well and there were lots of questions to be answered afterwards, several people came to talk to me after the talk had finished to say how much they had enjoyed it, thank you Malcolm for inviting me along and making me feel so welcome.
